If you haven’t already read Autumn’s review of Everything, Everything you should. I’m pretty sure she spoke of nothing but this book for an entire week. I expect this book to be just as spectacular! This book is not a sequel, so feel free to pick it up on a whim, curl up in a ball and give it a read!

Let us know what you think of it in the comments below, on twitter or by email! We love to talk books with all of you!

Taste of Tuesday: Dark Horses by Cecily Von Ziegesar

Book Dark Horses by Cecily Von Ziegesar

Okay, I don’t know if I am more excited that Cecily Von Ziegesar has started writing books again or that this is a twist of Black Beauty. I feel like this book is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to go and get it. So, WHEN DOES IT COME OUT? I can hear you all screaming at me .. I’m sad to say that it is already out! I missed this gems release two weeks ago. That isn’t going to stop me from going and picking it up this week though!

A psychological thriller is a little different than her previous books but I think she is very capable, the Gossip Girl plots weren’t exactly innocent! I am also hoping for some of the Gossip Girl feel to edge into this. Maybe we will get a new version of Pretty Little Liars! EEEK I am rolling with excitement for this.

Did you beat me to this bandwagon? Let me know what you thought of this book in the comments, on twitter (aurora buzz) or by email! I can’t wait to hear what you think.

Taste of Tuesday | Return to the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz

Return to the Isle of the Lost (Descendants, #2)

Well, last year we all banded together to fall in love with the children of our favourite evil geniuses. We scowled with them, plotted with them and even ate a few pieces of rotten fruit! After we read Isle of the Lost we all got together for the special premiere event of The Descendants – which didn’t disappoint. To all of our pleasure we now get to continue the journey! Here is what Goodreads says about this sequel:

There’s no place like home. Especially if home is the infamous Isle of the Lost. Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay haven’t exactly turned their villainous noses up at the comforts of Auradon after spending their childhoods banished on the Isle. After all, meeting princes and starring on the Tourney team aren’t nearly as terrible as Mal and her friends once thought they would be.

But when they receive a mysterious invitation to return to the Isle, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay can’t help feeling comfortable in their old hood—and their old ways. Not everything is how they left it, though, and when they discover a dark mystery at the Isle’s core, they’ll have to combine all of their talents in order to save the kingdom.

Sorry, I can’t write anything else. I must go to the store to buy this now … I will likely be out of reach until this book is complete!

Taste of Tuesday | Lair of Dreams (The Diviners #2) by Libba Bray

lod

After a supernatural showdown with a serial killer, Evie O’Neill has outed herself as a Diviner. With her uncanny ability to read people’s secrets, she’s become a media darling and earned the title “America’s Sweetheart Seer.” Everyone’s in love with the city’s newest It Girl…everyone except the other Diviners.

Piano-playing Henry DuBois and Chinatown resident Ling Chen are two Diviners struggling to keep their powers a secret—for they can walk in dreams. And while Evie is living the high life, victims of a mysterious sleeping sickness are turning up across New York City.

As Henry searches for a lost love and Ling strives to succeed in a world that shuns her, a malevolent force infects their dreams. And at the edges of it all lurks a man in a stovepipe hat who has plans that extend farther than anyone can guess.…As the sickness spreads, can the Diviners descend into the dreamworld to save the city?

In this heart-stopping sequel to The Diviners, Printz Award–winning and New York Times bestselling author Libba Bray takes readers deeper into the mystical underbelly of New York City.

So here’s another title where I haven’t read the original book in the series. I do currently have it sitting on my Kobo to be read, because it sounds extremely interesting. Libba Bray is a very popular author, and its exciting to see that she has the second book coming out in The Diviners series. This sounds like the perfect read to end the summer with! A bit of history to send you back to school.

Taste of Tuesday | Upcoming

Doing something a bit different this week, and trying to see what you guys are most excited about! August is a bit of a dry month this year with new releases, with only 2 YA books grabbing my attention (That being said, I think I currently have enough reading material to last me a lifetime lol).

On my list this month, there’s ‘Crystal Kingdom’ (Aug 4) and ‘Another Day’ (Aug 25). Here are two quick blurbs about them:

Crystal Kingdom
Cast out by her kingdom and far from home, she’s the Kanin people’s only hope.

Bryn Aven-unjustly charged with murder and treason-is on the run. The one person who can help is her greatest enemy, the gorgeous and enigmatic Konstantin Black. Konstantin is her only ally against those who have taken over her kingdom and threaten to destroy everything she holds dear. But can she trust him?

As Bryn fights to clear her name, the Kanin rulers’ darkest secrets are coming to light… and now the entire troll world is on the brink of war. Will it tear Bryn from Ridley Dresden, the only guy she’s ever loved? And can she join forces with Finn Holms and the Trylle kingdom? Nothing is as it seems, but one thing is certain: an epic battle is underway-and when it’s complete, nothing will ever be the same…

Another Day
In this enthralling companion to his New York Times bestseller Every Day, David Levithan (co-author of Will Grayson, Will Grayson with John Green) tells Rhiannon’s side of the story as she seeks to discover the truth about love and how it can change you.

Every day is the same for Rhiannon. She has accepted her life, convinced herself that she deserves her distant, temperamental boyfriend, Justin, even established guidelines by which to live: Don’t be too needy. Avoid upsetting him. Never get your hopes up.

Until the morning everything changes. Justin seems to see her, to want to be with her for the first time, and they share a perfect day—a perfect day Justin doesn’t remember the next morning. Confused, depressed, and desperate for another day as great as that one, Rhiannon starts questioning everything. Then, one day, a stranger tells her that the Justin she spent that day with, the one who made her feel like a real person . . . wasn’t Justin at all.

Taste of Tuesday | Every Last Breath by Jennifer Armentrout (The Dark Elements #3)

ELB

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

I’ve gotta say that I’m kinda sad to see this series end, and I almost wish it’d gone on for one more book. Sadly, that’s clearly not going to happen. Every Last Breath picks up right where Stone Cold Touch left off. A Lilin has been released from its hellish prison and is set on destroying everything, and everyone in its path. Along with having to battle a deadly monster, Layla also has to make her final choice – Zayne or Roth.

I’m intrigued to see what the final fan vote was in regards to who Layla chooses – About 8 months ago, Jennifer Armentrout put it out to the readers to choose who they wanted the heroine of the novel to end up with.

Taste of Tuesday | A Book of Spirits & Thieves by Morgan Rhodes

sat

Modern-day sisters discover deadly ancient magic in book 1 of this Falling Kingdoms spin-off series!

Worlds collide in this suspenseful, page-turning Falling Kingdoms spin-off series, which explores a whole new side of Mytica—and an even darker version of its magic.

Crystal Hatcher, Modern-day Toronto: It’s a normal afternoon in her mother’s antique bookshop when Crys witnesses the unthinkable: her little sister Becca collapses into a coma after becoming mesmerized by a mysterious book written in an unrecognizable language.

Maddox Corso, Ancient Mytica: Maddox Corso doesn’t think much of it when he spots an unfamiliar girl in his small village. Until, that is, he realizes that she is a spirit, and he is the only one who can see or hear her. Her name is Becca Hatcher, and she needs Maddox to help get her home.

Farrell Grayson, Modern-day Toronto: Rich and aimless Farrell Grayson is thrilled when the mysterious leader of the ultra-secret Hawkspear Society invites him into the fold. But when he learns exactly what he has to do to prove himself, Farrell starts to question everything he thought he knew about family, loyalty, and himself….

Fate has brought these young people together, but ancient magic threatens to rip them apart.

Morgan Rhodes is the author of the best-selling Falling Kingdom’s series, which I’ve had described to me as ‘Game of Thrones for Teens’. Unsurprisingly, it (sadly) keeps getting pushed further and further back onto my TBR pile (almost like S4 and S5 of Game of Thrones in my to be watched pile, shocking, I know). I’ve had countless people recommend the series (and author) to me, especially because I do enjoy high fantasy books. Hopefully, once my list gets knocked down a few pegs later this summer, I’ll finally be able to dive into the series, and now it’s spin-off!

Bonus, because who doesn’t love books that take place in modern day Toronto?!

Author’s Note: Due to an early release, Canadian readers can head to their local bookstore to purchase this item!
